Why Should You Opt for Headlight Restoration?

Over time, exposure to UV rays, road debris, and harsh weather conditions can wear down the protective layer on your headlights, leading to a cloudy or discolored appearance. This detracts from your vehicle’s overall aesthetic and reduces the effectiveness of your headlights, potentially compromising your safety during nighttime driving or inclement weather. Our headlight restoration services aim to address these issues, restoring your headlights to like-new condition.

OUR HEADLIGHT RESTORATION OPTIONS

01

Clean, Sand & Polish
In most cases this will clean up headlights without needing to get too involved. But this won't solve the problem. They will get bad again,

02

Clean, Sand & Clear Coat
This is best solution outside of a full replacement. We use the same 2K clear coat formulated specifically for headlights. This process has the UV protection built in.

Surface Oxidation vs. Internal Structural Failure

While most oxidation can be removed, some lenses suffer from crazing—fine, spiderweb-like cracks deep within the polycarbonate. This occurs when the plastic has been structurally compromised by years of extreme NC heat and UV exposure. While our restoration will significantly improve clarity and brightness, these internal fractures are permanent and cannot be 'polished out' as they exist beneath the surface of the lens.

Models Most Prone to Crazing

1. Porsche (Specifically 911, Cayman, and Boxster)

Porsche is perhaps the most "notorious" for this. Many owners of the 981 and 991 generations have reported widespread crazing. It is often blamed on the extreme heat generated by their high-intensity discharge (HID) or LED units, combined with a factory UV coating that can become brittle and pull at the lens as it degrades.

2. BMW (3 Series, 5 Series, and X5)

BMW headlights are known for "micro-cracking" or a "sandblasted" appearance. On models like the E60 or F30, the polycarbonate seems particularly susceptible to thermal cycling (rapidly heating up and cooling down), which creates those tiny spiderwebs deep in the lens substrate.

3. General Motors (Corvette and Silverado)

The C6 and C7 Corvettes are famous in the detailing community for "crazing" or "lens webbing." Because these cars often sit in the sun or are driven hard (creating high engine-bay heat), the lenses frequently develop deep internal fractures that even aggressive wet-sanding can't fully remove.

4. Volkswagen (Golf GTI and Jetta)

VW models, particularly the Mk7 GTI, have had numerous reports of "webbing" or stress cracks appearing on the inside of the lens. In many cases, these occurred while the cars were still under warranty, suggesting a factory tension or coating issue rather than just simple age.

5. Volvo (S60, V60, and XC90)

Many detailers consider older Volvos to be some of the hardest headlights to restore. The plastic used in the early-to-mid 2000s models is prone to deep, structural crazing that often goes "all the way through" the lens, making a 100% restoration nearly impossible.
